RGV RSEF Dates and Reminders

DATES:

April 9-12, 2010: ExxonMobil Texas Science and Engineering Fair in San Antonio, Texas 

May 9-14, 2010: International Science and Engineering Fair in San Jose, California, sponsored by the Society for Science and the Public.


September 1, 2010 to January 15, 2011:  Submit projects that need pre-approval to the Regional Scientific Review Committee

February 5, 2011: Deadline to  register for RGV RSEF

March 4, 2011 (1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.): Check-in, final SRC review and Safety Check of display 

March 5, 2011 (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.): Competition and Awards Presentations at UTB/TSC 


Reminders:

The Regional Scientific Review Committee approval for projects requiring "pre-approval" MUST be obtained BEFORE conducting any part of the experiment--if this is not done then a project will not be allowed to compete in the Fair.

RGV RSEF registration requires 1 single-sided copy of all ISEF paperwork, RGV RSEF registration forms and a check or purchase order for the $15.00 per project registration fee.

Students and/or adult sponsors MUST complete registration and setup at UTB/TSC for Fair on March 5th.  The final review of project paperwork and the display is done ONLY at this time.  Students/sponsors MUST bring original ISEF documents to be signed by the SRC Chairperson before competition, as well as an original RGV Media Release, and their project board with any materials (including computers) that will be displayed. 
 
All materials and paperwork must be reviewed at this time--no Safety or SRC committee will be available to check project on March 5th.

On the day of competition, March 5, 2011, students MUST be at projects before 8:30 a.m. ready for the judges to interview the students.  Students must be present to compete--including all team members just like State and International competitions.  

Remember that RGV Regional Science and Engineering Fair the qualifying competition for the State Science Fair and we will send the Senior Division Grand Champion projects directly to the International Science and Engineering Fair along with their sponsors.
The Rio Grande Valley Regional Science and Engineering Fair is officially affiliated with the International Science and Engineering Fair and must follow all guidelines regarding this competition.
